New York Times Goes VR With Google Cardboard App
The New York Times have officially gone VR. Working with content powerhouse VRSE (pronounced verse) NYT has paired Google Cardboard with a special Sunday edition of the New York Times Magazine which will debut on the NYT VR app.
That’s not all, coming weekend of 7-8 November they will be distributing over 1 million Google cardboard units to their home subscribers and online subscribers.
“Online subscribers to Times Insider and a selection of Times digital subscribers will receive promo codes redeemable for Cardboards as well.”
The NYT VR app will debut with a brand new VR documentary titled “The Displaced,” which was created in collaboration with Chris Milk’s VR content company, VRSE. The documentary will enhance the shocking displays of living in certain areas of the world, in hopes to invigorate emotions lost on others we can’t normally see.
“Currently there are over 30 million children around the world who have lost their homes due to either way or persecution. In “The Displaced” you will be able to experience the lives of three of those children from South Sudan, eastern Ukraine and Syria.”
Another great use of Google cardboard we think.
Stay tuned..
