First version and why it’s not used anymore

The first version created by Google was called Google Cardboard V1.0. The look was very similar to the V2.0, however instead of including a conductive button built with special fabric, it included a magnet which allowed the user to tap the screen of the phone. 

Some time after it’s release, some reports started coming out which sustained that the magnet didn’t work properly on certain phones, in addition to not always being the safest option for screens. This is why we decided to discontinue this unit and not produce it anymore.
